United Rugby Championship: Leinster report multiple injury concerns for Stormers semi-final

by

Leinster have injury concerns over a number of players before Saturday’s United Rugby Championship semi-final against the Stormers at the Aviva Stadium (17:30 BST).

The fitness of backs Jordan Larmour, Tommy O’Brien and Garry Ringrose will be assessed throughout the week, while decisions on the availability of forwards Dan Sheehan, Ronan Kelleher, Tadhg Furlong and Joe McCarthy will also be made as their progress on recovery from injuries is monitored.

McCarthy and Sheehan both came off injured in the second half of Saturday’s quarter-final win over the Lions in Dublin.

Their fellow Ireland international Furlong had been scheduled to start the game at the weekend but was forced to withdraw after feeling tightness in a calf.

O’Brien, Kelleher, Ringrose and Larmour all carried knocks into the game with the Lions.

Meanwhile, Stormers fly-half Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu has been ruled out with a serious ankle injury.

Stormers were comprehensive 35-0 winners when the sides met on the opening weekend of the regular URC season and went on to finish third in the table, three points behind the second-placed Irish province.

Saturday’s first last-four tie pits Glasgow Warriors against the Bulls (14:30 BST), with the winners of each semi-final meeting in the final on 20 June.
