The Buffalo Bills have overhauled their wide receiver group this offseason, adding a stud veteran and a promising young speedster to what was a lackluster grouping in 2025. The hope is that, with some new faces, the skill position group can help quarterback Josh Allen to direct an even more efficient passing attack this season.
While there are plenty of new faces in the receiver room this year, eight of the twelve players have some sort of experience with the Bills. Granted, of those players, two didn’t play with the Bills last season, two spent mot of their time on the practice squad, and one will miss most of, if not all of, the season while rehabbing a major knee injury. A lot of new faces means opportunity for some unknown players to step up and shine.

In today’s installment of our “91 players in 91 days” series, we discuss a newcomer whose last name will sound very familiar to longtime NFL fans.

Name: Ja’Mori Maclin
Number: 84
Position: WR
Height/Weight: 5’11” 183 lbs.
Age: 24 (25 on 9/22/2026)
Experience/Draft: R; signed with Buffalo following the 2026 NFL Draft
College: Kentucky
Acquired: UDFA signing
Financial situation (per Spotrac): Maclin enters the first year of his rookie deal, a three-year contract worth $3.115 million. $15,000 of that total is guaranteed via a signing bonus. If Maclin makes the 53-man roster, he carries a cap hit of $890,000 for the season; if he’s released, Buffalo will carry a dead cap charge of $15,000.

2025 Recap: Maclin was a role player for the Wildcats, and his statistical output was modest as a result. He played in ten games with five starts, totaling 13 catches for 189 yards. He returned three punts for just ten yards. His usage dip was significant from 2024 to 2025, as he was Kentucky’s primary punt returner for the 2024 season, averaging 8.1 yards per return that season. He also caught four touchdowns during his first season in Kentucky, but followed that up with zero scores in 2025. At Kentucky’s pro day, Maclin put up modest numbers, running the 40-yard dash in 4.54 seconds, benching 225 lbs. a total of 11 times, leaping 33.5” in the vertical jump and 9’10” in the broad jump, and completing the three-cone drill in 7.31 seconds. He was not invited the 2026 NFL Scouting Combine.
Positional outlook: Maclin is one of thirteen receivers on the current roster. Keon Coleman, Khalil Shakir, DJ Moore, Jalen Virgil, Trent Sherfield, Joshua Palmer, Skyler Bell, Tyrell Shavers, Mecole Hardman Jr., Stephen Gosnell, Mac Dalena, and Gabriel Benyard are the others.
2026 Offseason: Maclin is healthy and he has participated in offseason work to date.
2026 Season outlook: Maclin’s cousin, Jeremy, was a very good player over the course of his eight-year career, averaging 77 catches, 1,019 yards, and 7 touchdowns per 17 games. In two seasons at Kentucky, Ja’Mori Maclin caught 26 passes for 502 yards and four scores. He’s definitely not his cousin, but that doesn’t mean that he can’t work his way on to an NFL roster at some point.

That point is unlikely to be the 2026 season with the Buffalo Bills, however. In a much-improved receiver room, a UDFA has little shot at the final roster. Maclin has some burst, but his speed isn’t elite for someone who’s on the smaller side. He’s also not much of a short-area speed guy, and his agility numbers are lacking, as well. He has a chance to find space on the practice squad, but unless he proves himself to be strong on special teams, he’s likely a camp body in Buffalo.
