FAYETTEVILLE — Arkansas basketball players have returned to campus for summer workouts, but the roster for John Calipari’s third season with the program remains incomplete.

Calipari joined the Morning Mayhem radio show on 103.7 The Buzz on Thursday, June 4, and confirmed that the Razorbacks are still looking for their final pieces to the 2026-27 puzzle.

“We’re going to add one, maybe two more guys to the roster, but I don’t just add, to add,” Calipari said. “If the team doesn’t look like somebody thinks it should look, that’s okay because I’ve had all kind of teams like that.”

The biggest missing piece for Arkansas‘ current roster is another big man. The Hogs have Furman transfer Cooper Bowser, redshirt freshman Paulo Semedo and five-star true freshman Miikka Muurinen in the front court as of early June.

However, there’s still a chance the Hogs also add another guard, especially coming off Meleek Thomas’ recent decision to stay in the NBA Draft.

Calipari confirmed with radio hosts David Bazzell, Roger Scott and Joe Kleine that he was recently in Mexico on a recruiting trip. Rivals reported that Calipari was watching 2027 guard Davion Thompson at the FIBA U18 Americup. Thompson recently announced a top four of Arkansas, Baylor, Michigan and Vanderbilt.

A source told the Southwest Times Record that Thompson is a candidate to reclassify and join Arkansas for the 2026-27 season, but no final decision has been made from his camp.

Calipari also shared some insight on future Arkansas schedules during his radio interview. CBS Sports reported this week that the Razorbacks had agreed to a multi-year series with Arizona beginning in 2026. The Hogs and Wildcats will reportedly play in Phoenix this year, with Arizona visiting Bud Walton Arena in 2027. Arizona ended Calipari’s most recent season in the Sweet 16.

Arkansas will also be on the road this year in the ACC-SEC Challenge, and it has a Thanksgiving Day showdown with Michigan State on the cards in Detroit. That game against the Spartans was originally supposed to be in Fayetteville, and Calipari said Michigan State will join Arizona in coming to Arkansas for the 2027 nonconference schedule

Calipari is still trying to get a marquee home game on the 2026 schedule, and there is one more neutral-site game that hasn’t been announced.

“I didn’t think it would be this hard to fill in a home game,” Calipari said.

The Arkansas coach closed his interview discussing The Protect College Sports Act. He said the bill “is not perfect,” but he is glad there is movement on implementing age and transfer restrictions in college sports.

“You can’t have 28-year-olds playing against 18-year-olds, I don’t care what you say,” Calipari said. “Or we’re not doing what we were supposed to do to develop young people.”
