The International Swimming Coaches Association (ISCA), in its latest Lane One: Making Waves podcast with Summer Finke, delivers an interview with Indiana University coach Ray Looze. The veteran coach oversees the high-powered program in Bloomington, having developed multiple Olympians, world champions and NCAA titlists. Looze discusses the path to this success in the podcast, which is available here and below.

During the interview, the Olympic coach speaks about his coaching philosophy and the importance of creating a beneficial culture for his athletes. Other topics that are covered include leadership, communication, adjusting to change and some of the lessons Looze has learned during his coaching career at various levels.

A recent inductee into the ISCA Hall of Fame, Looze guided Indiana to a third-place finish at March’s NCAA Men’s Championships, while the women’s program earned a seventh-place finish at NCAAs. The program is widely known for producing some of the world’s premier breaststrokers, with Looze mentoring Lilly King during her illustrious career. During his tenure, Looze has been named Big Ten Conference Coach of the Year on multiple occasions and has also been recognized as the CSCAA National Coach of the Year.
