Trade speculation around Boston Celtics wing Jaylen Brown continues to circulate across the league, but one of the most respected NBA insiders has poured cold water on the idea that he is truly available.
Brian Windhorst stated on CLNS Media Boston Sports Network that he has not heard any legitimate traction involving Brown or teammate Derrick White being moved. He added that there is no “material, true discussions” suggesting either player is on the market in a meaningful way.
“I have not actually heard any material, true discussions,” the insider said, via HoopsHype. “I’m certain maybe someone has called on Jaylen Brown maybe, but I have not heard one iota of Jaylen Brown truly being available or Derrick White being available.”
Windhorst also emphasized the internal value Boston places on its core, pointing to Brown, Jayson Tatum, and White as a proven championship-level trio. The group remains under contract on long-term deals, even if those contracts limit roster flexibility.
Brown’s name has recently surfaced in external speculation following reports linking the New Orleans Pelicans to aggressive offseason pursuit scenarios. That chatter has been amplified by New Orleans’ need for a high-level wing after finishing 26–56 and missing the postseason.
However, Windhorst’s reporting frames those discussions more as due diligence than active negotiations. In his view, Boston has not engaged in serious conversations involving a potential departure of its All-NBA forward.
Brown, 29, is coming off a strong individual season, averaging 28.7 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 5.1 assists while earning All-NBA Second Team honors. He also finished sixth in MVP voting, reinforcing his status as one of the league’s premier two-way wings.
He remains under a five-year, $285 million contract and is entering the third year of that deal. His playoff résumé, including Finals MVP experience, continues to anchor his value in trade discussions, even if no real movement has materialized.
