The Atlanta Hawks have agreed to a multiyear contract extension with head coach Quin Snyder, according to NBA insider Shams Charania on Monday, June 8. The move continues a stretch of organizational continuity under team leadership following a 46–36 regular season.
The report stated that Snyder’s extension comes alongside President Onsi Saleh’s new deal, signaling long-term stability at the top of the franchise. Atlanta’s ownership group has now committed to consecutive extensions for both basketball operations and coaching leadership.
Snyder completed his fourth season with the Hawks, guiding the team through a turbulent roster shift and an eventual late-season surge. Atlanta finished 46–36, securing the Southeast Division title and the No. 6 seed in the Eastern Conference.
The Hawks’ season featured a notable midyear roster change, including the January trade that sent Trae Young to the Washington Wizards in exchange for CJ McCollum and Corey Kispert. The transition reshaped the team’s offensive structure and ball-handling hierarchy.
Despite early inconsistency, Atlanta surged after the All-Star break, going 20–6 over its final stretch. That run included an 11-game winning streak, one of the longest in franchise history, and helped stabilize its playoff positioning.
Player development remained a central theme under Snyder’s system. Jalen Johnson earned his first All-Star selection after averaging 22.5 points and 10.3 rebounds, while Dyson Daniels finished among the league’s most impactful defensive guards and received Defensive Team recognition.
Nickeil Alexander-Walker also delivered a breakout campaign, earning Most Improved Player honors after averaging 20.8 points and shooting 39.9 percent from three-point range across the regular season.
The Hawks’ postseason ended in the first round against the New York Knicks, where they fell 4–2. Atlanta briefly held a 2–1 series lead before losing three straight, including a Game 6 defeat that featured a significant halftime deficit.
