Late last week, word broke that free agent cornerback L’Jarius Sneed would be visiting the Kansas City Chiefs — where he played from 2020-23.
Sneed’s visit apparently proved fruitful, as NFL insider Jordan Schultz reported on Monday that Sneed would be rejoining his original team.
The Chiefs drafted Sneed in the fourth round (138th overall) in the 2020 NFL draft. He was in the starting lineup from his first NFL game and quickly proved himself one of general manager Brett Veach’s best draft finds.

In four seasons with the Chiefs, Sneed started 54 games. He was also in the initial lineup for 13 postseason games, including victories in Super Bowls LVII and LVIII. Ahead of his second Super Bowl win, Sneed’s goal line forced fumble on Baltimore Ravens wideout Zay Flowers in the AFC Championship will be remembered as one of the top defensive plays in team history.
After the 2023 season, the Chiefs placed the franchise tag on Sneed ahead of free agency. Rather than signing an extension in Kansas City, however, Sneed was quickly traded to the Tennessee Titans.
Sneed’s time with the Titans was plagued by injuries and a since-dismissed legal situation in Dallas. After signing a four-year contract worth $76 million, he would appear in only 12 games for his second club.

The Titans released Sneed on March 13.
What this will mean for the Chiefs’ cornerback room remains to be seen. Last year’s starters — Trent McDuffie and Jaylen Watson — are now members of the Los Angeles Rams. Kansas City drafted LSU’s Mansoor Delane and Oregon’s Jadon Canady in this year’s draft. Second year pro Nohl Williams and veterans Kristian Fulton and Kaiir Elam are also on the roster.
With a full 90-man roster, the Chiefs will need to make corresponding personnel move to officially add Sneed to the mix.
