Jon Sumrall will be the fourth Florida Gators head coach to face to the Georgia Bulldogs since Kirby Smart took over as the head coach in Athens prior to the 2016 college football season.

Sumrall, who will be the fourth full-time Florida head coach since Smart was hired by the Bulldogs in late 2015, earned a big win on the recruiting trail earlier this month when 2027 four-star offensive lineman Kennedee Jackson committed to the Gators.
Jackson, 6-foot-6/300 pounds from Lithonia, GA, is rated by 247Sports as the No. 16 offensive tackle in the nation and the No. 9 player in the state of Georgia.

Jackson is committed to the Gators, but Smart and the Bulldogs are working hard to change that.
The four-star offensive lineman reportedly took an “unexpected” visit to Georgia just days after committing to Florida.
And it’s believed that Georgia is very much a threat to swipe Jackson from Florida.
“Despite Florida’s awareness of the trip, the Bulldogs have reentered the picture in a major way,” reported 247Sports’ Benjamin Wolk. “Jackson visited Athens, Georgia, with multiple family members, and the Bulldogs are now viewed as a legitimate threat to flip his commitment… A resolution could come soon.”

Jackson tweeted on Monday that he’s not currently giving any interviews about his recruitment.
Sumrall was confident he landed a big-time recruit when Jackson committed on June 2, but Smart essentially channeled his inner Lee Corso and said not so fast my friend!
If I had to bet — and I’m not because my last name isn’t Sorsby — I’d put my money on Smart and the Bulldogs eventually winning this battle.
