Oregon Ducks land prediction to pick up 5-star WR in 2027 class

by

The Oregon Ducks added three players to their 2027 recruiting class on Monday, and that could just be the start of a big recruiting run for Dan Lanning’s staff.

Official visits are underway, and the Ducks are preparing for two of their biggest weekends yet. On June 12 and June 19, multiple five-star prospects will arrive on campus in Eugene, and the Ducks have a great chance to pull some of them into the class later this summer.

On June 19, Oregon is set to host five-star wide receiver Xavier Sabb, who is one of the program’s top targets in this cycle. Sabb is the No. 22 overall recruit and No. 4 receiver in the 2027 class, per the Rivals Industry Ranking. Oregon would love to add him to the class as a primary weapon for five-star quarterback commit Will Mencl, who publicly called for Sabb to join him with the Ducks. Fortunately, things appear to be trending in favor of the Ducks.

Rivals’ Steve Wiltfong logged a prediction on Monday for the Ducks to land Sabb once he decides to commit. Sabb is set to choose from a group including Oregon, Alabama, LSU, UCLA and more. The product of Glassboro, New Jersey, has already taken a visit to LSU before taking a surprise visit to UCLA this past weekend.

A commitment to Oregon would be an incredible move for Lanning to pull off. Not only would the Ducks be pulling an elite recruit from across the country, but they would beat the connection Sabb has to Alabama. Sabb’s brothers, Keon and Amari Sabb, both currently play for the Crimson Tide and are a significant factor in his recruitment.

However, Wiltfong believes Sabb’s connection to Lanning is the difference. As a junior, Sabb played both receiver and safety at Glassboro High School. He made 59 catches for 896 yards and 13 touchdowns last season and was named Gatorade Player of the Year in New Jersey.

Oregon has the No. 9 recruiting class in the nation, per Rivals, but adding Sabb would push the Ducks closer to another top-5 class. The Ducks also made great progress with four-star wideout Dakota Guerrant this weekend, and he could join forces with Sabb in Eugene.
