Boston Celtics star Jaylen Brown delivered a confident message about his future amid a summer filled with trade speculation, declaring that the best version of his game has yet to be seen.
“I feel confident in the sense where I’m coming into my physicality, my mental game, my weaknesses are turning into my strengths,” Brown said, via HoopsHype. “You have not seen the best version of Jaylen Brown. I look forward to the next season, we’ll see where the chips fall.”
The comments arrive at a pivotal moment for both Brown and the Celtics. Boston finished 56-26 during the 2025-26 regular season, good for second place in the Eastern Conference. Despite another playoff run, the organization has found itself at the center of offseason rumors involving potential blockbuster moves.
Brown’s name has frequently surfaced in discussions surrounding a possible pursuit of Giannis Antetokounmpo. However, recent reporting suggests there is little evidence that Boston is actively shopping its All-NBA wing.
Speaking on CLNS Media Boston Sports Network, NBA insider Brian Windhorst said he has not heard any substantive negotiations involving Brown or fellow Celtics guard Derrick White.
“I have not actually heard any material, true discussions,” Windhorst said, according to HoopsHype. “I’m certain maybe someone has called on Jaylen Brown maybe, but I have not heard one iota of Jaylen Brown truly being available or Derrick White being available.”
The 29-year-old averaged 28.7 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 5.1 assists across 71 games this season while shooting 47.7% from the field and 34.7% from three-point range. His production earned him All-NBA Second Team honors and a sixth-place finish in MVP voting.
Brown’s performance was especially significant given Boston’s circumstances. Jayson Tatum appeared in only 16 games during the season, averaging 21.8 points and 10.0 rebounds. Brown carried a larger offensive burden and helped keep the Celtics among the Eastern Conference’s elite teams despite the absence of their other franchise cornerstone for much of the year.
Trade speculation has also connected Brown to several teams, including the New Orleans Pelicans, Portland Trail Blazers, Houston Rockets, and Atlanta Hawks. Yet multiple reports continue to indicate that rival interest in Brown does not necessarily reflect Boston’s willingness to move him.
Additional reporting from Kevin O’Connor suggested that the Bucks are not particularly interested in a direct Antetokounmpo-for-Brown framework. O’Connor noted that any potential deal involving Boston and Milwaukee would likely require at least a third team, reducing the likelihood of a straightforward swap centered on the Celtics forward.
Brown remains under contract through the 2029-30 season after signing a five-year, $285 million extension. His résumé includes multiple All-Star appearances, an NBA championship, and Finals MVP honors, making him one of the league’s most accomplished two-way wings.
