NASCAR is set to make history this weekend as all three national series head to San Diego for the first time.
The sport’s newest venue, a temporary circuit at Naval Base Coronado, will host the NASCAR Cup Series, NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, and NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series from June 19-21. The event has generated significant buzz throughout the racing world thanks to its unique setting and the challenge of a brand-new road course that no driver has raced on in competition.

For fans planning to attend or watch from home, the good news is that weather conditions appear favorable throughout the weekend.

Race day on Sunday is also expected to cooperate. Forecasts call for morning clouds followed by afternoon sunshine, a high near 71 degrees, and only a 5% chance of rain.
If the forecast holds, weather should play little role in determining the outcome of NASCAR’s first trip to San Diego.

NASCAR Heads to a Brand-New Venue
The San Diego weekend represents one of NASCAR’s most ambitious projects in recent years.
The temporary circuit at Naval Base Coronado gives the Cup Series another road-course challenge while introducing competitors to a venue that is completely unfamiliar. With no previous race data available, teams will rely heavily on practice sessions and simulator work as they prepare for the inaugural event.
That uncertainty, combined with what appears to be an ideal weather forecast, could make for one of the most unpredictable and intriguing race weekends of the 2026 season.
