Auburn Lands 2027 Verbal From Romanian Freestyler Diana Stiger
NEW COMMIT: Auburn University has picked up a verbal commitment for the 2027-28 season and beyond from Diana Stiger of Bucharest, Romania. Stiger is a talented distance freestyler who represents Romania on the international stage.
Regarding her commitment, she said:
“I am so excited and grateful to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and swimming career at Auburn University! A huge thank you to everyone who has supported me throughout this journey. I am especially grateful to Coach Ryan, Coach Averee, and the entire Auburn staff for believing in me and welcoming me into the Auburn family. War Eagle!”
Stiger trains with Clubul Sportiv al Armatei Steaua Bucuresti. Last summer, she finished 11th in the 1500m free and 12th in the 800m free at the 2025 LEN European Junior Championships. She then went on to place ninth in the 1500m free, 12th in the 800m free and 13th in the 400m free at the 10th World Aquatics Junior Championships.
In LCM, her best times include:
- 400m free – 4:15.34
- 800m free – 8:42.81
- 1500m free – 16:36.20
- 100m free – 57.53
- 200m free – 2:03.03
In SCY, those times convert to:
- 500 free – 4:44.70
- 1000 free – 9:42.93
- 1650 free – 16:11.29
- 100 free – 50.22
- 200 free – 1:47.65
Stiger is a great pickup for the Tigers. Her best time (converted to yards) in the 1000 free and 1650 free would’ve ranked first on Auburn’s lineup last season while her top 500 free time would’ve been second.
Auburn placed seventh at the 2026 Southeastern Conference Championships. Stiger’s best time (converted to yards) in the mile would’ve placed sixth while she would’ve scored in the B-final in the 500 free.
