Abi Burton: Trailfinders ‘not scared’ before PWR final with Saracens

Burton was part of the England squad that won the 2025 World Cup, as well as the 2026 Six Nations Championship.

The 26-year-old has played in all three of Trailfinders’ campaigns since they joined the PWR, and says the over-riding emotion is pure excitement heading into Sunday.

She said: “The fact that it is at The Stoop, an all-London final. You’ll be queens of the PWR, queens of London by the end of this.

“It will just be a spectacular occasion, and occasions like this will be new to some of our girls, but a lot of us have been in situations where we’ve been surrounded by hundreds of thousands of people.

“It’s just trying to get those other girls prepared for what might come at them, but at the same time try to enjoy the moment because there will only be a certain number of times in your career you get moments like this.”

Coach Maddison says he’s well aware of the challenge facing his side but just wants his players to relish the whole experience.

“The key thing is for everyone to enjoy themselves, and the time together – it’s our last week together as a group,” he added.

“Ultimately, we’re all competitive, and we all want to win, so let’s put our best foot forward, competing in a final.

“It’s going to be a tough game. Saracens have played really well all season, they’ve probably been the most consistent team across the season.”
