Joe Lauzon will return to combat sports for the first time since October 2019 when BKFC comes to his home state.
Lauzon, a 27-fight UFC veteran who still has the third-most finishes and is tied for the second-most bonuses in lightweight division history, has signed with BKFC to compete at its Aug. 29 event at Fenway Park in Boston.

The promotion announced the signing on Friday, and despite being 42, Lauzon said he could not decline the chance to scrap at an iconic venue he knows so well.
“Getting the chance to step back into the spotlight, especially in Boston, was an opportunity I couldn’t pass up,” Lauzon said in a press release. “The thing that got me really excited was fighting at Fenway Park. I’ve fought in Boston before and I fought at TD Garden, but there’s something special about competing on the field at Fenway. I grew up a Red Sox fan, played baseball as a kid, and watched the Red Sox win the World Series while I was in college. To have the chance to fight there is pretty incredible.
“Boston has always shown up for me. Every time I’ve fought there, my friends, family, and supporters have packed the building. I can’t wait to experience that again. There aren’t many venues more iconic than Fenway Park. Getting to fight there is something I’ll remember forever.”
Lauzon ended his MMA career on a high with a first-round TKO of Jonathan Pearce at UFC on ESPN 6. The triumphant result snapped his three-fight losing skid, the last of which came by stoppage.
