Penn State’s Beaver Stadium to become largest CFB venue ever in 2026

by

Penn State is one of the most storied college football schools in the nation, but perhaps the most notable aspect of the program is Beaver Stadium. The iconic venue has been welcoming fans to watch the Nittany Lions for 66 years, fostering one of the most chaotic and deafening environments in sports.

Beaver Stadium held less than 50,000 people when it first opened up back in 1960, but frequent renovations and expansion have added more than 60,000 seats since then, bringing the current total to just over 106,000. Penn State’s stadium capacity has been just behind the Michigan Wolverines for a while now, whose famous Michigan Stadium holds over 107,500 fans.

Michigan has had the biggest stadium in college football since 1956, but that isn’t expected to be the case much longer, with some expensive Penn State renovations set to bring the total capacity at Beaver Stadium to over 108,000 by the start of the 2026 season. More minor adjustments are expected to be made throughout the year, which is scheduled to take the capacity up to approximately 109,000 when everything is said and done.
