After a pro career that stretches back more than a dozen years, Ariane da Silva has decided to hang up her gloves.
Jena Bishop (11-3) submitted da Silva (18-12) with an armbar in the first round on the prelims at PFL San Diego on Saturday at Pechanga Arena. The loss was her first in the PFL after she debuted in the promotion with a win over Sumiko Inaba three months ago in Pittsburgh.

Prior to that, da Silva had three straight setbacks to close out a 14-fight run in the UFC, where she went 6-8 over a run of more than six years. Her final fight in the promotion was a decision loss to Wang Cong at UFC 316 for which she missed weight by six pounds.
In the UFC, da Silva’s six wins included a pair of post-fight bonuses for submissions. The 32-year-old Brazilian ends her career with 10 stoppages in her 18 wins.
