ESPN’s Chiney Ogwumike: A’ja Wilson Is Greater Than Tom Brady

ESPN WNBA analyst Chiney Ogwumike made headlines earlier this week, when she criticized the reaction to the Caitlin Clark, Alyssa Thomas incident.

“When narratives are created based off of a freeze-frame, that can create a huge problem. The league was reacting to the optics of that image,” Ogwumike said.

The ESPN WNBA analyst suggested that the league reacted too quickly to the viral incident. Thomas was suspended for one game and hit with a $1,000 fine, after hitting Clark in the throat and the groin.

But Ogwumike disagreed with the quick reaction to the play and, now, she’s gone viral again, this time for her comments on WNBA star A’ja Wilson and NFL legend Tom Brady.

During a segment on ESPN this week, a question was asked “Safe Space: Is A’ja Wilson’s greatness more impressive than Tom Brady’s?”

The ESPN WNBA analyst made it clear where she stands.

Ogwumike makes her Wilson vs. Brady preference clear

Ogwumike said that Wilson’s winning and style of play are a lot more exciting than Brady’s. She made it clear that she’ll take Wilson’s greatness over Brady’s.

“Tom’s winning is boring,” she said. “That don’t apply to A’ja. A’ja is more interesting than Tom. A’ja is that girl.”

The ESPN WNBA analyst added that the “dynamic nature of basketball” gives Wilson the nod, too, explaining that she can “step off the court like she’s in Fashion Week.”

Brady, of course, has literally walked in Fashion Week. He has seven Super Bowl rings, while Wilson has three WNBA championships.
