Real Madrid have officially announced that head coach Sergio Scariolo has left the club after the two sides mutually agreed to end their partnership.
Scariolo’s departure had been expected in recent weeks, and the Spanish club confirmed the decision in an official statement.
“Real Madrid C.F. and Sergio Scariolo have mutually agreed to end his tenure as the head coach of the first basketball team.
“Real Madrid, which will always be his home, thanks him for the commitment, dedication, and professionalism he has demonstrated at our club, and wishes him and his family all the best in this new chapter of their lives.”
Scariolo returned to Real Madrid before the start of the season but was unable to lead the club to a trophy.
Madrid reached the EuroLeague Final before losing to Olympiacos while playing without its centers, and also suffered disappointing defeats to Baskonia in the Copa del Rey Final and Tenerife in the ACB League quarterfinals.
