On3 has ranked Clemson as having the second-toughest schedule in the ACC for the 2026 college football season, trailing only Florida State. Georgia Tech, North Carolina, and Boston College rounded out the top five.
And honestly, it is not hard to see why Clemson is sitting that high in the ACC schedule standings.

The Tigers open the season with a massive home game against LSU on Sept. 5, which immediately sets the tone. There are warm-up games on the schedule, including Georgia Southern and Charleston Southern, but the rest of the slate has a healthy amount of landmines.
Clemson’s ACC path includes North Carolina, Miami, Virginia Tech, Florida State, Syracuse, Georgia Tech and Duke before closing the regular season against South Carolina. That’s a schedule with multiple games that could swing how the season is remembered.
The Miami, Florida State, and South Carolina games are the obvious attention-grabbers, but the sneaky tough part is the spacing. Clemson goes to Cal for a late-night September 25th matchup, then an October run with Miami, Charleston Southern, Virginia Tech, and Florida State. By November, the Tigers still have Syracuse, Georgia Tech, Duke and South Carolina waiting.

The Seminoles have the hardest schedule for a reason: Alabama, Miami, Clemson, Florida, Louisville, SMU, Boston College, and NC State is a brutal mix. Clemson’s schedule is nasty, but Florida State’s has more top-end pain, especially with Alabama and Florida sitting outside the ACC slate.
Georgia Tech falls right behind Clemson. Honestly, the gap between second and third does not feel massive at all. The Yellow Jackets open with Colorado, get Tennessee a week later, have a late-night trip to Stanford, and then still have Virginia Tech, Boston College, Pittsburgh, Louisville, Clemson, and Georgia waiting. That is gross. Clemson probably gets the edge because LSU, Miami, Florida State and South Carolina give the Tigers a more top-heavy punch, but Georgia Tech’s schedule has landmines all over it. The Jackets might not have Clemson’s exact headline games, but they absolutely have the kind of slate that can wreck a season one week at a time.
For Dabo Swinney’s team, the schedule gives Clemson plenty of chances to build a real playoff résumé. It also gives the Tigers very little room to sleepwalk.
