Two people with knowledge of the matchup recently informed MMA Junkie of the booking but asked to remain anonymous as the promotion has yet to make an official announcement.
Born in Brazil, Aly (5-1) is a four-time IBJJF champion who came through the MMA regional ranks in the U.S.. He unfortunately ran into future UFC signee Iwo Baraniewski on DWCS in 2025, being knocked out in 20 seconds. Aly returned in March and picked up a 20-second TKO of Diego Paclat (7-10-1) at Shogun Fights 32.
The past year for Lorenz (7-2) has been similar. The MMA LAB product (and software engineer) got his big break on DWCS in 2025 but was finished with strikes in 30 seconds by Abdul Rakhman Yakhyaev, a fighter who has gone 3-0 since signing with the UFC. Lorenz has competed once since the loss. It was a 24-second TKO of Gabriel Thimoteo (5-7) at LFA 228 in March.
The DWCS 88 lineup includes:
-
Logan Paxton vs. Cristian Perez
-
Roman Puga vs. Taner Trembley
-
Mahamed Aly vs. Alik Lorenz
