Dallas Wings guard Azzi Fudd is one of the leading candidates for this year’s WNBA Rookie of the Year award. Throughout the 2026 season, Fudd has been one of the league’s best 3-point shooters, making 38.4% on 5.0 attempts per game and serving as a focal point of Dallas coach Jose Fernandez’s system. In addition, Fudd is on pace to surpass several WNBA rookie records and has already surpassed some of them. Another history-making feat Fudd recently attained puts her alongside former Indiana Fever star Tamika Catchings. According to a statistics page by OptaSTATS on X/Twitter on Tuesday, Fudd joined Catchings as the only rookies in league history to have a 20-game span with at least 35 3-pointers made, 35 steals and 20 blocks. Catchings did it multiple times in 2002, while Fudd has done it in 20 games.
Fudd’s contributions as a first-year player have helped Dallas (13-8) to fourth place in the Western Conference. Through 20 games, she is averaging 13.3 points, 1.9 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 1.8 steals and 1.0 blocks in 30.4 minutes per game.

UConn Huskies coach Geno Auriemma will be commentating in Azzi Fudd’s upcoming WNBA game
It will be a UConn Huskies-filled affair on Tuesday, when the Dallas Wings visit the New York Liberty. Azzi Fudd will continue to share the court with her longtime running mate and fellow Huskies alum Paige Bueckers. The duo will take on former UConn star Breanna Stewart, who has been playing for the Liberty since 2023. All three won national titles for UConn, with Stewart doing it four times. To make it more of a reunion, legendary UConn coach Geno Auriemma is expected to call the game alongside Robin Roberts. According to the CT Insider, Auriemma and Roberts have already worked during the first two seasons of ESPN’s WNBA coverage.
