The Indiana Fever play the first of a back-to-back on Wednesday, July 8, against the Los Angeles Sparks at crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles (10 p.m. ET, USA Network).

The big question is if Fever guard Caitlin Clark will play. She has been out the past two games because of a lingering back injury. Clark told the Indianapolis Star, part of the USA Today Network, that she’s optimistic about playing against the Sparks.

“Very hopeful for tomorrow,” Clark said. “It will obviously be very difficult for me to play this one on Wednesday and obviously, the one on Thursday, but we will see.”

Clark said she will be on a minutes restriction because of the injury and that traveling doesn’t help with her back stiffness. The Fever are in the middle of an 11-day road trip. They play at Phoenix on Thursday and at Las Vegas on Sunday.

The Sparks continue to play without guard Kelsey Plum. She is sidelined indefinitely with a lower left leg injury and will not be reevaluated until the end of July.
