Nearly a month after the Carolina Hurricanes clinched the second Stanley Cup title in franchise history, the team got to see the names that are forever engraved on Lord Stanley’s Cup.
As is tradition, each member of the team will get a day with the Cup this offseason. For the fourth year in a row, the trophy’s official engraver, Louise St. Jacques of Montreal, etched the names before it goes on its summer vacation.

In total, there are 53 names listed for the 2025-26 Hurricanes. There are 24 players and 22 staff, including general manager Eric Tulsky, head coach Rod Brind’Amour and special advisor to the GM and franchise legend Justin Williams.
Also included is owner Tom Dundon and his wife, Veruschka, plus their five children: Caden, Dax, Drew, Blake, and Tagan.
Players must have played in at least 41 regular-season games or one game in the Stanley Cup Final to be eligible to have their name engraved on the Cup. Teams can petition the NHL Commissioner to add a player if there are “extenuating circumstances” preventing them from being able to play.

The team determines which members of the management staff will appear on the Cup. All names must be approved by the Hockey Hall of Fame and the NHL with a maximum of 55 names allowed.
Having family members on the Cup engraving isn’t new. There are several members of the Ilitch family on the 2007-08 Detroit Red Wings entry, but they all had roles within the organization.
The approval process can be traced back for former Edmonton Oilers owner Peter Pocklington, who had his father Basil’s name etched on to the Cup after the team won in 1984. Basil Pocklington was not involved with the team in anyway and the HHOF was forced to cover up his name with Xs.
Dundon bought a share of the Hurricanes in 2018 and took over full control in 2021. He was instrumental in promoting Brind’Amour, the captain the last time the franchise on the Cup in 2006, from assistant coach to head coach. The team has not missed the playoffs under Brind’Amour and reached the Eastern Conference Final four times before finally winning another title.

The Hurricanes won the Metropolitan Division and finished first in the Eastern Conference this past season. They would post a 16-3 postseason record, which includes a pair of sweeps in the opening two rounds of the Stanley Cup playoffs. In the Cup Final, Carolina would beat the Vegas Golden Knights in six games.
