The Pittsburgh Pirates are playing the final game of the first half of their season by hosting the Milwaukee Brewers in an NL Central showdown.

Paul Skenes is taking the mound, hoping to build off his latest start against the Atlanta Braves on July 7. He pitched six innings, giving up eight hits but only allowing runs in a 12-4 victory at home. It was Skenes’ first victory since May 12, ending a nine-game skid without a win.
This is Skenes’ second time pitching against the Brewers this season, back on April 24. Skenes pitched seven shutout innings with only one hit allowed in a 6-0 victory on the road. The Pirates hope he can have similar levels of success in today’s game.
Skenes is coming off of winning the Cy Young Award, and he might be passing the torch to Jacob Misiorowski by the end of the season. Misiorowski is one of nine pitchers in all of Major League Baseball with 10 wins in the first half, and he’s doing it all with an ERA under 2.00. In his last start on July 7 against the St. Louis Cardinals, he pitched seven innings, giving up three hits and three earned runs in a 4-3 victory at Busch Stadium.
Location: PNC Park, Pittsburgh, PA
Broadcast: KDKA AM/FM, Peacock
Pitching Matchup: Jacob Misiorowski (10-4, 1.62 ERA) vs. Paul Skenes (6-8, 3.62 ERA)
