Former Vice President Kamala Harris has long been outspoken in her support for the WNBA and women’s sports generally. That continued on Sunday night when she attended a Los Angeles Sparks game and spoke to the team after the game. However, not everyone was happy about her speech.
Harris had the opportunity to address the Sparks after their win over the Chicago Sky on Sunday night, where she praised the league and the players for their impact. However, one prominent right-wing sports personality was not impressed.

‘Extraordinary to watch’
Following the Sparks’ 102-87 win over the Sky, Harris took the time to go to the Los Angeles locker room to address the players.
In the brief speech, Harris praised the growth that the WNBA has seen in recent years and congratulated the players not just on the victory in the game, but for the impact they’ve had.
“You are having an incredible impact. I travel our country, young girls, boys, people of every gender, background, race, watch the W, and understand how inspiring it is,” Harris said in her speech. “So keep doing what you’re doing. You guys are impacting people who you will never meet, people who may never know your name or mine, but they are aware of what you are doing. And it is giving them a sense of their value and their dignity and what they have a right to expect from this world.

So, congratulations on this game, but congratulations as much as anything else, for the path you guys are charting. It is extraordinary to watch.”
Harris ended her speech by leading a “together” cheer with the team.
‘Made zero sense’
While the players clearly appreciated the visit and speech from Harris, prominent right-wing sports commentator Clay Travis was not a fan.
In a post on X, Travis blasted Harris for her speech, claiming that it made “zero sense” while pointing out that a team has never visited the White House with Trump in office.
“Kamala Harris gave a locker room speech to a WNBA team that made zero sense and then led a together cheer with them. This league has still never had a team visit the White House with Trump in office,” Travis wrote in a post on X.

It’s worth noting that while Travis claims that no WNBA team has visited the White House, the Las Vegas Aces never received an invitation to the White House following their 2025 WNBA Championship, while the New York Knicks did for their recent NBA championship.
