Malik Reneau delivered one of his best performances of the summer on Saturday, helping the Orlando Magic wrap up NBA Summer League in Las Vegas with a victory over the Boston Celtics and a 4-1 record.
The 6-foot-9 forward came off the bench to score 19 points in just 18 minutes, taking advantage of expanded playing time after Orlando rested four players who had been regular contributors throughout Summer League.
Reneau, who signed an Exhibit 10 contract with the Magic after going undrafted last month, made the most of the opportunity by providing an offensive spark while helping Orlando control the game on both ends of the floor.
Following the win, he credited the team’s defensive intensity for setting the tone early and creating easy scoring opportunities in transition.
“I liked our aggressiveness,” Reneau said. “The way we came out on that defensive end, we got some stops and (were) able to run out and get some easy baskets in transition.”
