Notre Dame 5-star 2028 defensive end target will commit on Monday

by

Notre Dame football is fairly close to closing out its 2027 recruiting class, with 23 total commitments after Brayden Parks made his verbal on Thursday.

The Irish have an elite class, one that ranks among the best in the nation and could end up being the top overall class. With that said, Notre Dame has the luxury of moving onto the 2028 cycle, one where they already have two commits, safety Andre Jones and kicker Owen Davies.

One of their top targets is Illinois edge rusher Darieon Prescott, a 5-star in the 247Sports Composite, ranking as the No. 18 overall player in the class. On Friday the 6-foot, 6-inch and 220-pound star announced via On3’s Hayes Fawcett that he’ll be committing on Monday with Notre Dame, Oregon and Texas A&M as his finalists.

Prescott has visited all three schools, as he was in South Bend to see the Irish hosting Purdue. Scanning his social media, it doesn’t look like he visited this spring, but he did see the Ducks and Aggies. It’s hard to say where he’s leaning at the moment, but the hope is that proximity plays a part in Prescott’s decision and joins other Illinois players who matriculate to Notre Dame.
