Rizvan Kuniev overwhelmed Tyrell Fortune on the feet at UFC Fight Night 282 until he finally got the stoppage.
Kuniev (15-3-1 MMA, 3-1 UFC) showed more signs as being a promising heavyweight when he used a mix of striking to close the right eye of Fortune (18-4 MMA, 1-1 UFC), who hung tough until final shots led to the TKO at the 1:12 mark of Round 3 on Saturday at Etihad Arena on Yas Island, Abu Dhabi.

After taking the eye damage, Fortune informed his corner of a rib injury that was preventing him from breathing. Fortune came out swinging, but Kuniev picked his strikes until a flying knee crumbled his opponent.

After falling short in his debut, Kuniev has now put together back-to-back wins. He’s putting together some momentum and promised to do more.
“I’m really happy that it went this way, and guess what? I’m going to show more great fights in this octagon,” Kuniev told Daniel Cormier through an interpreter in their post-fight interview. “This is my first time in the octagon executing everything my coaches told me.”
