Kristy Curry hit the ground running as USF’s first full-time women’s basketball coach in 25 years, and she scored another big get on Tuesday.
The Bulls announced they are one of eight teams that will participate in the WBCA (Women’s Basketball Coaches Association) Showcase tat Walt Disney World Resort.

The Bulls will play Texas Tech at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Lake Buena Vista on November 22 at 1 p.m.
Other teams participating in the event include Alabama, Florida A&M, Florida State, North Carolina, Purdue, Texas Tech and UCF.
Curry came to USF after 13 seasons at Alabama. Before that, she spent seven seasons at Texas Tech and seven seasons at Purdue. Her 2001 team lost the national championship game 68-66 to Notre Dame.
Curry has a 554-322 record over 27 seasons.
Interestingly, she was the head coach at Texas Tech when they lost to Jose Fernandez and the Bulls 71-70 in the first round of the NCAA tournament.

“Kristy Curry is a big name in women’s college basketball,” USF guard Hannah Kohn, a transfer from Clemson, told GoUSFBulls.com. “Everybody knows her and knows she’s a good coach. She has such positive energy. College basketball is hard, but I always noticed her teams at Alabama lifted each other up and had a good time.
“Obviously, the X’s and O’s were done very well with the way they won.”As a player, that kind of mindset is attractive. And it’s not just the basketball. She’s a great woman and her whole coaching staff are people you want to be around and learn from every day. Any player that looks at USF women’s basketball would realize it’s a great situation.”
As is becoming typical in college basketball, Curry faced a significant rebuild of the roster after taking the job.
Of the 13 players currently on the roster,seven came through the Transfer Portal. There are two freshmen and four holdovers from last season.

Serenity Hardy, a 5-foot-9 guard from Lakeland, was a three-time Ledger Player of the Year in Polk County. She was named Miss Basketball 2026 by Florida Dairy Farmers and was theNo. 1-ranked shooting guard in Florida and No. 13 overall in the state according to Prep Girls Hoops.
She has 3-point range and hit128 free throws to finish in the top 250 in the country.
Then on Saturday, Curry signed Estonian 6-foot-2 national team forward Lisandra Vetesina. She played for the U18 Estonian national team in 2025.
“We are so excited to welcome Lisandra to our Bulls family. She brings great versatility, size and skill on the perimeter,” Curry said. “She will fit perfectly into our system and style of play.”
