Where Does Wild Head Coach John Hynes Rank Among NHL Coaches?

In The Hockey News’ latest rankings of NHL coaches, Minnesota Wild head coach John Hynes ranked in the top 15.

Criteria for our coaches’ ranking include each coach’s accomplishments, their short-term and long-term history, as well as their expectations and general reputation. But full disclosure – this ranking is subjective.

Hynes led the Wild to the NHL’s seventh-best record the past season at 46-24-12. The Wild allowed the fourth-fewest goals a game in the NHL and had the third-best power play in the league.

The Wild’s bench boss is heading into his final year of his contract and is expected to get an extension soon. As Wild general manager Bill Guerin said after the season, it seems like Hynes will be staying around for more seasons after this upcoming one.
