The wait for the 2026-27 college basketball season rolls on, but before we know it, tipoff will be here.
For the North Carolina Tar Heels, they enter year one under Michael Malone, who is taking over for Hubert Davis following a big decision the program made in the Spring. The goal for Malone and his staff is to get this program back on track.

So far, UNC has done a good job building the roster, considering they had a bit of a late start. But with the new ruling coming from a judge in Colorado allowing a fifth year of eligibility, North Carolina may not be done yet. Malone and his staff are showing interest in a few players, according to reports.
Forward Duke Brennan is the latest to get interest from North Carolina, according to Jon Rothstein who reported Monday that the Tar Heels are among the teams who have contacted him. Brennan is already in the transfer portal and is drawing interest from UNC, USC, Oregon, Ole Miss, UConn, Georgetown, Oklahoma and Villanova.
Brennan has spent time at Arizona State, Grand Canyon University and most recently Villanova. Last season he averaged 12.4 points, 10.2 rebounds and two assists per game for the Wildcats a year ago.

With a need in the frontcourt, it makes sense for UNC to go after players who can help in that area. We shouldn’t expect that to end soon.
