Off-court controversy and on-court dominance are proving a profitable mix for media outlets and have become the defining narrative of the Indiana Fever‘s season, as the team keeps setting new records.

In the latest round of viewership updates, the Fever’s weekend clash with the Minnesota Lynx pulled in massive numbers, reaffirming the franchise’s status as one of, if not the biggest, draws in the WNBA.

Indiana’s 108-100 loss to the Minnesota Lynx on Sunday drew 2.5 million viewers, securing its spot as the second most-watched WNBA regular-season game in ESPN history.

The latest record coincides with rallies following Fever guard Sophie Cunningham’s controversial comments regarding trans athletes competing in women’s sports.

While Olivia Miles and the Lynx managed to get one over the surging Fever and snapped their five-game winning streak, Stephanie White’s team had another record to its name. Indiana has now featured in all three of the WNBA’s most-watched games on ESPN.
