The Detroit Tigers won their fourth game in a row on Tuesday night with an 8-0 victory over the Seattle Mariners at T-Mobile Park. Troy Melton threw seven shutout innings and the offense used three home runs to fuel the rout en route to matching a franchise-best six straight games with eight runs or more scored.
Opening up Wednesday night’s game is right-hander Drew Anderson, who will be making his third start of the season out of 22 total appearances. One of the 32-year-old’s previous starts came against the Cleveland Guardians back on May 20, when he gave his team 4 2/3 frames of shutout ball on two hits and two walks while striking out seven in an eventual 3-2 loss in 10 innings at Comerica Park.

Anderson’s other start came on June 15, lasting just 2 2/3 innings after surrendering a run on two hits and two walks while striking out five Houston Astros for a no-decision in a game that the Tigers ultimately prevailed, 9-3, at Daikin Park.
For the Mariners, fellow righty Bryan Woo will climb the hill for his 22nd start of the 2026 campaign following a tough month of work. Over the course of four starts in July stretching across 21 innings, the 26-year-old posted a brutal 6.43 ERA but a more respectable 4.19 FIP, serving up 29 hits (four home runs) and seven walks while striking out 25 batters over that span, taking a pair of losses in the process.
The last time Woo saw the Tigers on June 6, he got spanked in Detroit to the tune of five runs on nine hits (one home run) and zero walks while striking out seven over 6 1/3 innings to earn his fourth loss in a 7-3 final.
