There might be a car crash center-cage at UFC Fight Night 291 in Edmonton.
The Oct. 17 card at Rogers Place just got a whole lot more violent as Nate Landwehr is moving up to lightweight to face Mandel Nallo in what should be a banger for as long as it lasts. The promotion announced the bout Wednesday.
Landwehr (18-8 MMA, 5-6 UFC) looks to change things up a little after a three-fight skid that includes losses to Doo Ho Choi, Morgan Charriere, and Cub Swanson. Known as one of the UFC featherweight division’s most exciting fighters with five performance bonuses in 11 outings, Landwehr hopes to bring that same entertainment to the masses in his new weight class.

Nallo (14-4 MMA, 0-1 UFC) was long one of Canada’s best kept secrets, serving as a training partner for Georges St-Pierre and others. He competed in Bellator eight times but departed the roster after the promotion merged with PFL. After a 5-0 run on the regional scene, Nallo earned a contract on Dana White’s Contender Series with a quick knockout of Samuel Sanches. He debuted in April and had Jai Herbert hurt but ultimately faltered to the Brit’s power as he lost by knockout in a little over two minutes.
