Grading Carson Beck‘s Cardinals debut

Beck had an excellent showing in his Cardinals debut. The third-round rookie was sharp throughout the outing and demonstrated his upside as a pocket passer at the NFL level.

Beck’s poise in the pocket and ability to read the field were on display from the outset of Thursday’s game. He looked comfortable behind Arizona’s offensive line, taking just one sack during his outing, and showed an ability to navigate and manipulate the pocket.

One of the best examples of this came on Arizona’s second drive of the game. The Cardinals were backed up near their own goal-line facing a third-and-7 when Beck took a snap out of the shotgun. The Panthers were nearly able to get some pressure off the right side of the line, but the 24-year-old rookie slid up in the pocket ever so slightly before feathering a perfect, downfield pass to Jalen Brooks for 35 yards.
