South Carolina Gamecocks head coach Dawn Staley received a huge shout-out from ‘Ted Lasso’ actor Jason Sudeikis. The actor revealed that Staley’s book “Uncommon Favor” was on Ted Lasso’s reading list, helping him become the best version of himself.
In response on Friday, Staley invited Sudeikis to attend a South Carolina women’s basketball game in the upcoming season.

“@jasonsudeikis Mr. Lasso himself thank you for reading Uncommon Favor!! Can’t wait to see you on at a @GamecockWBB game!” Staley wrote on X.
After reading Staley’s “Uncommon Favor,” Sudeikis’ character learned about “a true goldfish mentality.”

The full title of Staley’s book is “Uncommon Favor: Basketball, North Philly, My Mother, and the Life Lessons I Learned from All Three.” It was published last year in May, accounting for Staley’s experience on and off the court. The term “Uncommon Favor” was taken from Staley’s description of the 2024 national championship, calling it “God’s uncommon favor.”

Dawn Staley’s Admirer Had Attended South Carolina Games Before
“Ted Lasso” actor and Dawn Staley’s admirer Jason Sudeikis has attended a couple of South Carolina games before.
The actor was courtside at the 2024 NCAA Women’s Final Four, where South Carolina defeated Iowa to win the national championship. He wore the “Everyone Watches Women’s Sports” shirt during that game in tribute to the rise of women’s sports.

The actor also attended South Carolina’s game against UCLA in November 2024, when the Gamecocks’ 43-game winning streak ended. Sudeikis was also at the 2026 WNBA All-Star game in Chicago in July.
At the Fanatics Fest on July 16, the actor wore a South Carolina women’s basketball hoodie made by the company Playa Society.
Moreover, Sudeikis and Staley both featured in Sue Bird’s Sue’s Places. In the series, Sudeikis appears as a Kansas basketball superfan. Meanwhile, Staley was seen meeting Bird when she was on a visit to South Carolina.
