Another date is out on UConn women’s basketball’s 2026-27 slate. On Sunday, UNLV released its non-conference schedule for the upcoming season, which features a trip to face the Huskies on Wednesday, Dec. 2.
This will be just the second all-time meeting between the schools. Back on Dec. 27, 1997, UConn traveled to Las Vegas and handed UNLV an 80-47 defeat on its home court. Rita Williams finished with a then-career high 19 points in the victory.

The Rebels are a solid mid-major program that made three straight NCAA Tournament appearances between 2022-24 after missing out in each of the 20 years prior. They have also claimed seven Mountain West championships in that time — three tournament crowns and four regular season titles.
This past season, the Rebels finished 21-11 but saw their season end at the hands of Colorado State in the semifinals of the Mountain West Tournament.
Historically, UNLV’s peak came from 1984-94, when it went to seven NCAA Tournaments and even reached the Sweet Sixteen in 1989. Notable players include Misty Thomas, who appeared in the 1984 Summer Olympics with Canada, and Linda Frohlich, who spent time in the WNBA with the New York Liberty, Indiana Fever and Sacramento Monarchs.
It’s unclear whether this contest is part of a home-and-home series or just a one-off.
