Oklahoma Women’s Basketball 2026-27 SEC Conference Schedule Released

by

The SEC released its 2026-27 women’s basketball conference schedules on Tuesday, and Oklahoma now has its full 16-game league slate.

For the 18th straight year the conference is sticking with a 16-game format. Each team plays 14 opponents once and faces one rotating opponent twice. As previously announced, the Sooners’ home-and-home this season is against South Carolina.

Jennie Baranczyk is heading into her sixth season in Norman, and the program has settled in nicely since joining the SEC. Oklahoma has gone 11-5 in conference play in each of its first two seasons in the league and reached the Sweet 16 both years. That consistency is a good foundation to build on.

The Sooners open SEC play on the road at Ole Miss on New Year’s Eve, Dec. 31. Oklahoma is 3-1 against the Rebels under Baranczyk, so it’s a familiar early test. They come back home quickly for the conference home opener against Missouri on Jan. 3.

The rest of the home schedule at Lloyd Noble Center includes Georgia (Jan. 7), Kentucky (Jan. 24), Vanderbilt (Jan. 28), Alabama (Feb. 4), South Carolina (Feb. 8), Auburn (Feb. 21) and Texas (Feb. 25). Getting South Carolina and Texas at home are big opportunities, especially with the way those programs have played in recent years.

On the road, after the opener at Ole Miss, Oklahoma visits Tennessee (Jan. 10), South Carolina (Jan. 14), Mississippi State (Jan. 21), Texas A&M (Jan. 31), Arkansas (Feb. 11), Florida (Feb. 14) and LSU (Feb. 28). That’s a tough stretch of environments, but it’s the reality of the SEC.

Oklahoma will be led by sophomore Aaliyah Chavez, who had a breakout freshman season and earned National Freshman of the Year honors by ESPN. Sahara Williams is back as a key veteran piece as well.

The Sooners return seven players from last year’s Sweet 16 team and have added a seven-player newcomer group that includes three freshmen and four transfers. There’s a solid mix of experience and new talent to work with.

The SEC Tournament is set for March 3-7 at Bon Secours Wellness Arena in Greenville, South Carolina. Tip times and TV details for the regular-season games will come later.

On the non-conference side, a few notable games are already locked in. Oklahoma opens the season against North Carolina in Paris on Nov. 2, plays Syracuse in the SEC/ACC Challenge on Dec. 3, and faces Oklahoma State in the Bedlam matchup on Dec. 12 at Paycom Center in Oklahoma City. The rest of the non-conference schedule will be announced later.

Overall, it’s a standard tough SEC slate with a couple of interesting early opportunities at home. Baranczyk’s groups have shown they can compete year in and year out in this league. With Chavez back and a mix of returning pieces and newcomers, the Sooners will again be in the mix when conference play rolls around.
