The Yankees couldn’t wrap up a sweep of Seattle on Thursday, instead sleeping through the matinee finale and getting shutout in a 1-0 loss. Max Fried was the unlucky victim of the disappearing offense, allowing just a solo shot in the second inning and getting a notch in the loss column for it. Still, the Yankees have won their last two series they’ve played to close out a 5-4 homestand, and they’ve got a couple series they need to take advantage of lined up starting with a trip north to Toronto. The Blue Jays did them a favor taking three of four from the Red Sox, but now their hot streak butts heads with the Yankees’ need to gain some ground.
Before the ALDS rematch gets underway, Sam will start us off with a look at the pitching matchups we can expect to see before coming back to handle the Rivalry Roundup where said Sox avoided getting swept. Nick’s also got a double-feature in our lineup, first giving Jim Mason his flowers on his birthday before getting into the rotation depth check-in for August.
