For what very well could be the last time, a group of former Philadelphia Flyers standouts will return to the ice in honor of one of the NHL’s greatest, most impactful defensemen in the history of the game.
On Friday, Aug. 21, a large handful of legends and former stars will reconvene in Trencin, Slovakia, to play in Zdeno Chara‘s farewell game in a matchup of Team Boston vs. Team World.

Team Boston will feature all the star names you’d expect: Brad Marchand, Patrice Bergeron, David Pastrnak, and Ray Bourque, as well as current Boston Bruins head coach Marco Sturm.
Also joining the fray, however, are Flyers Hall of Famer Mark Recchi, as well as former Flyers defenseman Dennis Seidenberg.
The Flyers will be equally represented on Chara’s Team World, which boasts a group of ex-Flyers forwards in Michal Handzus, Jaromir Jagr, and Jakub Voracek.
As a fun Easter egg, legendary soccer goalkeeper Petr Cech will be between the pipes for Team World; Cech, 44, is a four-time Premier League champion, a Champions League winner, and an ice hockey goalie with 40 games of experience playing in the English leagues.
