Cancel the Saturday plans and break out the popcorn. The NFL is hitting the ground running with its first weekend prime-time game of the preseason: the reigning champs vs. “America’s Team.”
The Dallas Cowboys head to a face-off with the Seattle Seahawks in Washington on Aug. 15 for what will serve as the preseason opener for both teams. The two teams are entering the game months removed from starkly different results in their last game action.

Dallas’ last game was a 34-17 loss to the New York Giants on the road – their first loss to the Giants since 2020 – in a regular-season finale on Jan. 4. Seattle’s last game was a 29-13 victory over the New England Patriots in Super Bowl 60 on Feb. 8.
As of Aug. 14, neither team has announced whether they’ll be playing or sitting their starters in the preseason Week 1 matchup. Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer did say that rookie first-round picks Caleb Downs and Malachi Lawrence have a good chance to make their NFL debuts on Dallas’ defense in the game.
