Bailey scored in double-digits in 11 of his 32 games played for the Hoosiers last season. This included a stellar 24-point performance in Indiana‘s 98-97 2OT victory over UCLA on Jan. 31. He heads to a St. John’s program coming off a stellar 30-7 (18-2) season under Basketball Hall of Fame head coach Rick Pitino.
The Red Storm won both the Big East Regular Season and Conference Tournament, and advanced to the Sweet Sixteen of the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 1999. Although the program lost star forward Zuby Ejiofor to the NBA Draft, Pitino has hauled in players such as Bailey, former Baylor star forward Tounde Yessoufou, and former Syracuse forward Donnie Freeman through the Portal. Freeman, however, will miss the season with a torn Achilles tendon.
Preliminary injunction for 2022 class opens door
Judge Charlotte Sweeney of the U.S. District Court of Colorado granted a class-wide preliminary injunction that required the NCAA to declare eligible all high school class of 2022 athletes who exhausted four seasons of eligibility this spring, according to documents obtained by On3’s Pete Nakos.

“All persons in the United States who began to play in collegiate sports in the 2022-2023 season, competed in NCAA Division I sports, and completed four years of eligibility as defined by the NCAA’s prior rules by the conclusion of the 2025-2026 season, and are therefore barred from playing a fifth season due to the NCAA’s adoption and immediate implementation of the Five-Year Eligibility Rule,” the class certification read.
Bailey is one of many players from the Class of 2022 that was granted an extra year of eligibility, which he will now use to suit up for the Red Storm. A few other notable names to receive the extra year include former Michigan State forward Jaxon Kohler, former UCLA guard Donovan Dent, former Missouri forward Mark Mitchell, and former Ole Miss guard AJ Storr (committed to UNLV).
