Mason Jones’ fairytale second octagon run came to a brutal halt at UFC Fight Night 285 courtesy of MarQuel Mederos.
An intense lightweight battle came to a conclusion on Saturday when Mederos (12-1-1 MMA, 4-0-1 UFC) landed some heavy elbows and nasty strikes to hurt Jones (18-3 MMA, 4-3 UFC) to the point of a standing TKO at the 2:07 mark of Round 2 at Golden 1 Center in Sacramento, Calif.

With four octagon performances without a defeat, highlighted by becoming the first to stop Jones in MMA competition, Mederos is looking for some acknowledgment in the lightweight division while also revealing he experienced some tragedy leading into the event.
“My brother died last week,” Mederos said in his post-fight interview with Michael Bisping. “I love you Cameron. I know you’re watching from up above. I love you brother.”
Additionally, Mederos said he’s hunting bigger name now at 155 pounds.
“Give me Beneil Dariush or give me Chris Duncan,” Mederos said. “I’m on they ass.”
