The New York Liberty hosted the Indiana Fever on Saturday and came away with a 109-102 win. Fever guard Caitlin Clark was once again in the thick of the action. Clark scored 21 points and added four rebounds and seven assists. However, she missed a 3-pointer and two free throws in the clutch, and also conceded a foul.
Team USA head coach Kara Lawson was on the broadcast team covering the game, and she highlighted Clark’s mistakes that contributed to the Fever’s loss.

“This is playoff basketball. I know this is a regular season game, but all night it felt like that. It’s just that a couple mistakes there by Clark late, right? The one emotional foul to put New York to the free-throw line and obviously misses the two free throws,” Lawson said.
Fans agreed with Lawson’s comments.
“Yes it’s her fault she missed the clutch three to tie the game and also missed the 2 free throws to close the gap .. be realistic,” one fan said.

Lawson also said this was a learning experience for Clark and other players, highlighting that small details matter at the end of a game.
The Liberty outclass the Fever
Caitlin Clark, Kelsey Mitchell and Aliyah Boston combined for 68 points. Clark had 21, Boston had 22 and Mitchell had 25. Sophie Cunningham and Makayla Timpson contributed with 10 points each.
For the Liberty, Breanna Stewart scored 22 points along with eight rebounds and seven assists. Jonquel Jones had a double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds.
Leonie Fiebich had 20 points with five rebounds and five assists. Sabrina Ionescu added 12 points, three rebounds and four assists.
