Dolphins rookie defender to miss time after injury during game against Giants

by

Without most of their starters not in the lineup, the Miami Dolphins fell to the New York Giants by a score of 26-3 during week two of the NFL preseason. While many players sat out the game, the team’s rookies were on full display for much of the contest. Unfortunately, one of Miami’s defensive rookies couldn’t make it through four-quarters of action — leaving early due to injury.

Rookie linebacker Trey Moore — Miami’s first selection in the fourth round of the 2026 NFL Draft — was pulled from Saturday’s exhibition game early due to an ankle injury.

While rushing Giants quarterback Jameis Winston, Moore leapt into the air in an attempt to swat a pass to the ground. Unfortunately, it was Miami’s rookie who ended up in a heap on the grass instead — eventually needing assistance while leaving the playing field.

Moore was listed as a starter when the Dolphins released their initial depth chart. According to head coach Jeff Hafley, Miami’s rookie isn’t expected back from injury any time soon. The Dolphins are still gathering information on how severe the ailment Moore suffered yesterday is.

For a team that has displayed its lack of depth in two consecutive preseason contests, an injury to a starter — even a rookie — is a serious blow. Here’s hoping Moore can overcome his injury in quick fashion in order to return to a team that will surely need his services as the year progresses.

We will continue to keep you updated on all things Miami Dolphins as the team prepares for its final preseason contest against the Atlanta Falcons this upcoming Friday.
