Dennis Schroder is beginning to think about the final years of his playing career, saying he expects to remain in the NBA for another “two to four more years.”

The 32-year-old guard has also considered what could come afterward. Despite questions about a possible return to Europe and the EuroLeague, Schroder would rather finish his career with his hometown club, Braunschweig.

“People often ask me if I could come back to play in Europe, especially in the EuroLeague,” Schroder said on the OMR Podcast. “But in that case, I’d be helping another club become bigger. I prefer to return to Braunschweig, where it all started, and play here.”

Schroder, who is also the majority shareholder of the German club, admitted that rising NBA salaries could convince him to stay in the league longer than originally planned.

“I’ve heard that in 2028, NBA salaries are going to increase even more. Obviously, it’s not just about money, but if they put 10, 15, or 20 million a year on the table, then I might think about it a little longer,” he said.

The Charlotte Hornets guard is also focused on earning another NBA contract after his current deal.

“After this season, my goal will be to extend again. Every year, about 30 new players enter the league, and 30 others have to leave. If you arrive at that point without a contract, no matter your level, it can happen that you don’t get one anymore,” Schroder said.
