5 Bears who helped their roster chances the most against the Bengals

by

The preseason isn’t about wins and losses; it’s all about roster battles, and the Chicago Bears have several intriguing ones that are playing out. After the Bears vs Cincinnati Bengals game ended, I asked our team this question.

Who helped their 53-Man roster chances the most in this game?

And here’s what we had to say.

Josh Sunderbruch: Jamree Kromah played with urgency and some power, and he showed the spark the DL has been lacking. It’s going to be an uphill battle for him to make the 53, but he’s earning it over the last two games, in my opinion. If I’m allowed two, Kaden Davis is showing versatility in a crowded room.

Lester A. Wiltfong Jr.: Kaden Davis’ chances all come down to whether or not the Bears carry a sixth wideout on the 53, but his use in this game seems to have solidified his chances of sticking around. He was still repping with the ones, but his special teams snaps increased this week to 11 after only getting 4 against the Browns. He was on the coverage units, and he returned kicks and punts.

Donald Gooch: James Lynch continues to show up in the backfield, although he hasn’t translated it into a sack yet. I’ve liked what I’ve seen out of Caden Barnett on the interior offensive line. Kaden Davis has moved ahead of Scottie Miller as the 6th WR in my projection.

Bryan Orenchuk: Salvon Ahmed secured the RB3 this week, IMO. They have given Roschon Johnson more than enough opportunities to make this team, and he continues to fall flat. Ahmed will be RB3, and I’d be shocked if he gets much time next week against the Titans.

ECD: Jordan van den Berg didn’t just secure his roster spot with another solid performance against the Bengals. He’s setting himself up for extensive playing time in the rotational lineup at defensive tackle.

Gary Baugher Jr.: JVDB put a lot of good stuff on tape over the last two weeks; I expect a healthy dose of him in the preseason finale and for him to be a contributor moving into the regular season. He has a fantastic motor, and any guy that can bully the OL with a club move is alright in my book.

Not it’s your turn, who do you think helped their chances the most in Cincy?
