Caitlin Clark was once again in top form for the Indiana Fever when they took on the Chicago Sky over the weekend.

The Fever managed to secure an impressive 113-90 win, which included Clark scoring 37 points and providing 10 assists.

After posting such high numbers against the Sky, Caitlin became the first player in WNBA history to finish five games with 30 or more points and 10 or more assists.

No other WNBA player comes close to matching the record, with the entire league put together only managing to achieve the same feat a combined four times.

Meanwhile, her 10 assists last week have moved her up the all-time rankings.

Will Caitlin Clark break Sue Bird’s assist record?

Clark now has 742 career assists in 88 WNBA games, placing her 79th overall, one place below Sheri Sam (745).

At present, Sue Bird (3,234) holds the record for the most assists in the league, followed by Courtney Vandersloot (2,887), Ticha Penicheiro (2,599), Diana Taurasi (2,394) and Lindsay Whalen (2,348).

That means Clark is currently 2,492 assists away from matching Bird’s record and 2,493 away from breaking it.

The Fever star has averaged 8.4 assists per game in the WNBA to date.

So, at her current rate, she would need to play another 297 matches to surpass Bird in the history books.

Given that Clark is 24 years of age and Bird was 41 when she retired, it does seem as though Caitlin should have plenty of time to break that record.
