Nebraska volleyball vs. SMU recap, stats and highlights

Nebraska volleyball competed in another major event to start the 2026 season. The Huskers traveled to Arlington, Texas, to play in the inaugural Spikes Under the Lights at AT&T Stadium, home of the Dallas Cowboys.

The Huskers won the event, first defeating the Florida Gators in straight sets (21-19, 21-18) to advance to the finals before sweeping SMU (21-12, 21-11) to take the title. The Mustangs reached the finals after sweeping Penn State (24-22, 21-18) in its semifinal match.

The Huskers dominated SMU in the match from the start, going up by as much as double digits in both sets. Despite a few mishaps, Nebraska held its ground and capped off the biggest set wins of the night.

The Huskers totaled 27 kills for a .339 attack percentage in the match. SMU finished with 10 kills for a .068 attack percentage. Harper Murray led Nebraska on the night, totaling six kills for a .333 attack percentage.

This was the third meeting between Nebraska and SMU, with the Huskers now holding a 2-1 series advantage. Nebraska swept SMU in 2023 and was swept by the Mustangs in 2024.

The Huskers remain on the road for the start of the season. The team next travels to Las Vegas, Nevada, to compete in the Players Era Showcase.

Nebraska will take on UNLV and No. 2 Texas. The Huskers first face the Rebels this Saturday night. The match is set for 7 p.m. CT on FS1.
