During Thursday night’s finals at the William Woollett Aquatic Center in Irvine, California, Australian Ben Armbruster posted a time of 23.00 to win the 50-meter butterfly ahead of Caeleb Dressel (23.28). Meanwhile, Michael Hochwalt impressed in the 400 individual medley, as he went 4:11.46 to move into a tie for the 10th-fastest American in the history of the event.
The final session of prelims will feature men’s and women’s action in the 200 freestyle, 100 breaststroke, 200 butterfly and 50 backstroke. The 50 backstroke is expected to include Hunter Armstrong, who is chasing a bid to next summer’s Pan Pacific Championships.
